Health & Safety Manager – RC Frame/Groundworks

About the company:

My client is an up-and-coming RC Frame and Groundworks Sub-Contractor that work across a variety of sectors, this company has a turnover of around £15m and has experienced substantial growth over the last 15 months with key senior hires strengthening the business structure.

They are now looking to employ a full-time Health & Safety Manager to oversee this department and build the team, they currently use consultants but due to the growth of the business they now require a permanent team in place.

About the role: The key elements to this role is To Promote, Advise, Train, Consult on all aspects of Health and Safety and environmental issues within a construction company environment. Main responsibilities are to advise management on the prevention of injury to personnel and damage to plant and equipment, improvement in existing working methods, Legal requirements affecting health, safety and welfare and the adequacy of facilities provided. Advise upon the production of written method statements and site safety rules and on the arrangements to bring these to the attention of the workforce (at specified projects).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and assist all appropriate Managers to discharge their responsibilities for the Health and Safety of employees and others to whom they have a duty as defined by Statutory Regulations and Company practice.
  • Monitoring anything between 5-10 live sites at any one time
  • Ensure that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety Manager.
  • Carry out regular inspections of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures and the relevant Statutory Provisions.
  • Carry out accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company Accident/Incident Reporting Procedure and analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any recurrences.
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan.
  • Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Statutory Legislation and Contract Requirements.
  • Carry out site inductions and other training as required.
  • Participate in the work of safety committees and joint consultations affecting the workforce.
  • Assist in the preparation & review of project H&S documents including those of 3rd parties
