CCO Group, on behalf of their client, is looking to hire an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a rapidly growing property developer as it launches its own in-house construction arm. A family-owned business, this SME developer and housebuilder is renowned for delivering beautiful, high-quality homes across London and the South East, while its directors are regularly featured as thought leaders and commentators in national and trade news media. Founded in 1935, the developer started out as a commercial investment company and has continued to adapt and evolve to the ever-changing challenges of the property sector over 85 years. With multiple arms to the business, this is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a well-respected, established company as it embarks on the next stage of its journey.

Based in North London, the company is currently delivering 500+ homes a year, through planning and construction, across the capital and South East England. Following a period of rapid growth and with strategic plans in place to increase construction output, by building more new homes and commercial projects, this new role is set to provide excellent progression and development opportunities for the successful candidate.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the tasks identified below:

  • Estimating and developing budget & elemental costs, through to development cost plans
  • Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
  • Advising on procurement strategy; identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risks
  • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the project team and/or the client
  • Allocating work to subcontractors
  • Overseeing the administration and change order process associated with the CSA packages
  • Ensuring all changes are captured and costings appropriately assessed and validated prior to issuing to the design team and client
  • Valuing completed work and arranging payments
  • Negotiation of sub-contract/material packages terms and conditions
  • Performing risk, value management and cost control
  • Ability to challenge constructively and deliver developer led targets
  • Detailing monthly costs / value reporting to Director and/or client team
  • Managing and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations

The following will also be required:

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience
  • Excellent knowledge base throughout pre- and post-construction phases
  • Prior experience working for a main contractor is essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of new build residential developments
  • Commitment, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic
